First Product Party!
I just had my first product party and this is what I learned.
1.Plan about a month in advance and remind your guests about once a week that you're having the party.
2.Invite a lot of people. It's likely that most will not show.
3.Even if you don't have many attend, those that do attend are valuable(I had one very interested individual who said she liked a lot of my products and wanted to buy). My guests did not seem to come with the intent on buying, but rather to see what I had.
4.Bring testers and give the host/hostess a free gift for hosting. My hostess wanted my face mask. She mixed it up and let other guests try it. I also had a few other products that people tried.
5. Note the feedback to see what everyone likes the most.
6. Relax and have fun! Don't let hosting a product party stress you out. Good Luck!

1st show at local artist market
Today was the first time I went to my local artist market. I didn't make a sale (thankfully it's free), but I learned a few tips for selling at an artist market.
1. Have "curb" appeal. Just as it's referred to when buying a home. You want your customers to be attacted to your table to check out what you're selling. We do this online with our photos, in person you have to be prepared to set it up right the first time. Your tweaking will have to be done for next time.
2. Have all information about your product readily available. I made the mistake of not thinking my ingredients labels would be super important at a local market. This was because I wanted to save time and money. Bad idea, I know. I wrote them on cards and expected they would ask me about them.
3.Business cards are good! I only had one person take a business card, but she seemed interested in my products and said she would check out my Etsy shop.
4. This would sum up all the basics of selling in person such as not talking on the phone, make eye contact, smile, etc.. I may have lost a sale because I was on my phone for a moment and not engaged with the customer.

Moisturize
Are your current moisturizing products not working very well? There are many products that claim to solve one of the most common skin issues, dry skin. Some don't have the right moisturizing ingredients while some have additives that are counterproductive when trying to remedy dry skin. Here is some helpful information.
What to avoid
Many products include some type of alcohol in it's list of ingredients. Certain types of alcohols can be very drying to the skin; these include isopropyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, methyl alcohol, and benzyl alcohol. Watch out for petrolatum which does not absorb into the skin, and therefore is not a good moisturizing ingredient. It is also best to avoid contact with too much water on the skin. Yes, water! We think of water as being hydrating to the skin, but that is only true when it comes to drinking water. Water on the skin can have the opposite affect by evaporating and taking oils from the skin. This is due to Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) which is a complex of substances that mimic the structure and function of healthy skin.
Moisturizing ingredients:
Aloe Vera (or Aloe Barbadensis) is a moisturizer that contains vitamin B, folic acid, Vitamin C, and carotene. Aloe vera has a consistency similar to that of water, and sometimes replaces water in some products. It has healing properties and is commonly used in lotions, body washes, facial moisturizer, and other skin care products.
Sweet Almond Oil (or Prunus Dulcis) is an emollient and moisturizer that contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, and E. Sweet almond oil is also known to calm skin irritation, inflammation, and itching. It absorbs quickly and is used in a variety of skin care products.
Jojoba Oil (or Simmondsia Chinensis) is a moisturizer that resembles sebum of the skin. It contains vitamin E and aids in a glowing complexion. Jojoba oil is pore clogging so it's use is limited. It is often used in massage oils and hair products.
Cocoa Butter (or Theobroma Cacao) is a moisturizer from the cacao bean that is known to help with skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis. It contains cocoa mass polyphenol (CMP) which inhibits the production of the immuno globulin IgE. IgE aggravates symptoms of dermatitis and asthma. It is used in lotions, soaps, and other skin care products.
Mango Butter (or Mangifera Indica) is moisturizer and antioxidant that contains fatty acids. It is protective against UV radiation. Mango butter is used in lotions, hair care, lip balms, and other skin care products.
Be conscious of what is in your skin care products, and remember that you need a combination of a good diet and plenty of water for maximum results!
